This animated cat has been adapted from Edward Gorey's back cover illustrations for AMPHIGOREY - Fifteen Books by Edward Gorey: a compilation of books published between 1953 and 1965. The drawing showed the cat skating with the letter P in the word Gryphoemia, a Goreyism meaning either the heroine of a forgotten 19th century novel or a morbid affliction of the toes. Gorey loved absurdities.
