Hokusai Red Floral Bangle - Museum Shop Collection
Adapted from Katsushika Hokusais woodblock print series
Museum of Fine Arts, Boston
Hokusais original wood print from the
Edo period (about 1834), was named
Hawfinch and Marvel-of-Peru.
As their English name suggests,
marvel-of-Peru flowers originated in
South America and were brought to
Japan by the Dutch. Blossoms of
different colors can indeed grow on
the same plant, just as Hokusai
has drawn them.
Material: Brass with gold finish and epoxy
