Mizpah Sterling Silver Necklace - Inspirational Jewelry
'Mizpah' in Hebrew literally means 'watchtower'. It refers to the Biblical story of Jacob and Laban in Genesis 31. Mizpah jewelry was particularly popular in Victorian times often taking the form of a heart cut in two pieces, each half to be worn by friends or lovers who are temporally parted. It adopted a more general meaning over time - "may God watch over you" - and is especially poignant engraved on a necklace.
Inscribed on front: Mizpah. The Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another. Inscribed on back: Genesis 31:49. (Also comes as a Mizpah Key Chain) Sterling Silver, 1 5/8" long x 3/8" wide, Chain length: 18"
