The design for this plaque was adapted from a stone found in Kilkenny town, against the wall surrounding St. Canices cathedral. The cathedral was built in 1280 on the site of the original monastery. The Irish word, FAILTE, means Welcome in English. A Failte signboard welcomes you as you enter every village and town in Ireland.
