Mineral Collection - Copper Nugget, Iron Pyrite, Peacock Ore - Actual Authentic Specimens
From our Museum Field Kit(tm) collection, this box contains three minerals: 1. Native Copper Nugget - Copper is rarely found in the form of a Natural Nugget. Native Copper forms where there is volcanic activity and around fault lines. 2. Iron Pyrite, is an iron sulfide, a natural mineral. Its metallic luster has earned it the nickname Fool's Gold. The name pyrite comes from the Greek word Purities meaning 'of fire'. Pyrite will create sparks when struck against steel. 3. Peacock Ore is Bornite which is 63% Copper. Its natural color is brown to copper-red, and it tarnishes to various shades of blue and purple. This striking iridenscence gives it the name Peacock Ore. These minerals are from the Sonoran Desert, Western US, Michigan and other locations worldwide.
