A Corinthian coin reproduction of Pegasus, the legendary winged horse of Greek mythology who carried the young hero Belleraphon to victory over the fire breathing lion-serpent, Chimaero. When ultimately Belleraphon attempted to reach heaven on Pegasus, he fell off. Pegasus continued the journey by himself and was placed among the stars. Pegasus is also said to have produced the sacred spring, Hippocrene of Mount Helicon, with a blow of his hoof.
Materials: brass and pewter with gold finish.
