These earrings show in relief the small-headed horse which was typical of those of ancient Greece, as no heavy draught horse was developed in antiquity. The horse remained a rich man's possession used for war, sport and travel but not for agriculture. The second side depicts a two horse chariot, or biga, led by the tiny winged figure of Victory carrying a laurel wreath.
Earrings from an ancient Greek coin with a single horse on one side and a horse and chariot on the reverse. Sterling Silver, 5/8" wide
