Decorative and well-executed globe from the age of exploration. Stand is detailed turned wood, walnut finish. Exact reproduction of 16th century globe, papier-mache core, hand-applied paper gores. Original charts, researched in the libraries in Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Washington D.C. Map sections (or gores) are applied on spheres like they did centuries ago. The bigger globes are made on a papier-mache plaster finished core. Hand turned maple and mahogany, bronze and wrought iron stands and rings. Historically accurate, AM offers terrestrial and celestial globes from famous cartographers Mercator, Hondius, Vaugondy and Kaerius. Reproduction from the 16th - 17th centuries are nostalgic and decorative. When Louis XIV of France wanted globes for his flagship captains he complained about the exorbitant cost. There is no other company in the world offering authentic reproductions of this quality at the price level. Period.
