Globe Base, Wood and Vaugondy 7"
Centuries ago globes did not come cheap. That's why ancient globes were usually mounted in elaborate and decorative stands. The court, scinetists, and traders could easily exchange an outdated issue for the latest sphere with its newly filled-in blanks, redrawn borders and corrected coastlines. That's why we designed an elegantly simple, separate globe base, hand-turned and hand-buffed in a beautiful exotic wood. The Vaugondy Globe was replicated from original charts - the same charts 18th Century explorers carried on their far-glung voyages. Subtly altered in appearance and color to look perfect on a 21st century coffee table, bookcase, or mantel. Juggle, admire, or study these unique, profound shperes of interest and beauty.
